William E. Galbraith, born January 1922, is a native of rural Beemer, Nebraska and was a prominent member of American Legion Post 159, Beemer Nebraska. He served as National Vice-Commander of the American Legion before being elected National Commander of the American Legion on 31 August 1967. Mr. Galbraith is the only National Commander originating from Nebraska.[1] [2]
